Department of romanian language

The Romanian Language and Literature specialization is the oldest, being the first specialization offered to students when the Oradea Pedagogical Institute was founded in 1963. Over time, the Department of Romanian Language and Literature has included personalities recognized in Romanian academic and cultural life. In its current form, the department has ten full members, both teaching staff with seniority in education and experience at the department, as well as young colleagues at the beginning of their academic careers, concerned not only with training specialists in the field of Romanian Language and Literature, but also with their own improvement and research. Department of english language

The Department of English Language and Literature, in its current form, was established in 1995, with the expansion and diversification of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Oradea. However, English has a long tradition of teaching in higher education in Oradea, dating back to the 1960s.

Both at the undergraduate and master's level, there is a constant concern to harmonize the curricular areas of professional training in the spirit of the principles of the Bologna Declaration; these objectives can be found either in the modular structuring of courses, or in the diversification of elective courses, or in ensuring a qualification appropriate to the diploma obtained upon graduation.

Several directions of interest can be distinguished in the activity of the department, primarily aiming at the didactic activity focused on the best possible collaboration with students and on ensuring a favorable educational climate. Both teachers and students are constantly involved in various projects, partnerships with institutions, universities and schools, such as: the “Gheorghe Șincai” County Library, the Criș Land Museum and the “Friends of the Criș Land Museum” Association, I.S.J. Bihor, the Association for the Promotion of Cooperation in Education, Emanuel University, the “Emanuil Gojdu” National College, the “Iosif Vulcan” National College, the “M. Eminescu” National College, thus ensuring the organization and smooth running of interactive and cultural-educational activities, such as: Foreign Language Reading Club, Cultural Evenings - Dramatized Reading, Creative Writing, Reading Club, Blending Arts: Reading a Sculpture or Blending Arts: Reading an Artifact.

The English Department of the Faculty of Letters in Oradea encourages students to participate in various inter-university competitions (the Shades of Meaning translation competition, organized every year by the English Language Collective of the Faculty of Letters, Theology and History of the West University of Timişoara, or the Translation Competition for Pupils and Students organized by 1 Decembrie University, Alba-Iulia) so that they become increasingly competitive and competent in the labor market.

As an extracurricular concern, the English Department organizes the Students' Drama Club, an activity aimed at cultivating the artistic side, creativity and expressiveness in communication, a project extremely dear to our students, which culminates in the staging of a theater performance.

In the good tradition of international cultural exchange, the Department of English organizes the biannual International Conference Cultural Texts and Contexts in the English Speaking World, held at the end of March in odd-numbered years, as well as the academic event Seminars in Aglophone Studies, held every year in May.

The Department of English of the Faculty of Letters of Oradea aims to constantly attract all parties involved in the academic process, whether research or teaching, so that future graduates of our faculty benefit from openness, real opportunities and professionalism, at the end of their studies.
